Grey Matter

Foreword

The shadowy figure pulled the collar up on his jacket. It was summer but still Abe found it difficult to adapt to the fluctuating temperature. He was fed up. Fed up with having to wait until darkness before he could go out. Fed up with wearing dark glasses and a plastic face. Fed up with his assignment. "Why couldn't they do it the old fashioned way. Zip down from the sky in front of some random stranger and tell them how it's got to be" Abe muttered.
"Well if you remember rightly....." Henry began.
"The question was rhetorical"

Abe looked at the vacuum cleaner and rolled his eyes. The gesture was futile for two reasons. Abe's eyes were just two large pupils and it was impossible to tell if he was rolling his eyes. Secondly Henry is a vacuum cleaner converted into Abe's own personal droid. Unfortunately with Abe's limited knowledge of robotics, after the initial conversion Henry was pretty much left to program himself. Himself, that was another thing. Abe was in the habit of calling Henry him simply because it was the name on the vacuum. Henry used a variety of speech asimulations he had mimicked from the television. On occasion Abe wanted to reprogram Henry himself.... with a large hammer.

Henry could be amusing though especially when scanning the monkeys. Abe opened the door to the street and peered outside. There was a light mist and Abe shuddered. Creatures of the night indeed.
"Good hunting sport!" Henry said in an upper class accent.

Abe glared at the vacuum cleaner and stepped out into the dark streets. It was going to be a long night.
